jamkiol

Jamkiol is an unknown organism, clouded in mystery, allegedly belonging to the cnidarian invertebrates. Jamkiol also displays complex, visually guided behaviors such as obstacle avoidance and fast directional movement. Research indicates that, owing to the number of rhopalial nerve cells and its overall arrangement, visual processing and integration at least partly happen within the rhopalia of jamkiol. Its complex nervous system supports a relatively advanced sensory system compared to other cnidarian invertebrates, and it has been described as having an active, undulating way of life. Jamkiol was found 10,607 ft above sea level at a location called ‘Dome C’ on the Antarctic Plateau, Antarctica, 200km south-southeast of Concordia Station.
